Evangelist Irby G. Camp Jr.
Fruit of the Spirit
Part 2
Longsuffering:
This Fruit is directed towards our fellow humans. No one needs longsuffering towards God. God is longsuffering with you. He is not the sinner we are.
Repeat this after me: Longsuffering is Love on trial. Thank about that.
You say I love God, PROVE IT!! See how long you can put up with the troubles your neighbor gives you. See if you can do good to them that despitefully use you. See if you can bless when they curse.
Longsuffering is selfishness concord.
Col. 3:13
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
You have to forgive. You have to forbear.
The Lord defined Longsuffering when He said to Peter forgive seventy time seven.
The Christian can be very difficult until the Holy Spirit walks into it. Thank God for the Holy Ghost.
Gentleness:
Not only are we to be longsuffering but to approach those people who hurt us gently, with a touch of Healing.
Let me show you what gentleness is:
1 Thes. 2:7
But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:
True Gentleness is done where you cherish the individual.
Matthew 10:16
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. [Jesus says Harmless as Doves.]
No Possible way without the Holy Spirits help.
That is why Colossians 1:11 says we need All Might unto longsuffering.
We have to have the power of the Holy Spirit.
Goodness
Goodness is the
sixth Grace of that Fruit.
What is Goodness?
Goodness is Love in the noblest behavior in society.
Goodness is Holiness put into practice. Only the Holy Spirit can impart it.
Romans 15:14
And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.
Goodness is the result of the knowledge of God in someone’s life.
In Luke 6:27, Jesus said to do good to them who hate you.
In
Galatians 6:10 we are commanded in every opportunity to do Good.
James
4:17 says if we have the opportunity to do good and do not do it, it is sin.
James
4:17
Therefore
to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
So
we need to ask God to forgive us for the times we have had a chance to do good
and we have not.
The Bible talks about Saving Faith, the Bible talks about the Fruit of Faith, The bible talks about the Gift of Faith.
Saving
Faith which is general Faith. To every man is given a measure of Faith.
Fruit
of Faith, which is what is here.
Then
the Gift of Faith
The
saving Faith comes before salvation.
God
gives each one a measure of Faith and as we grow in Christ we develop that
Faith. From Faith to Faith Romans 1:6
The
Fruit of Faith which is grown.
The
Gift of Faith which is seasonal. It comes and goes.
The
Gift comes for the operation of God and the Fruit stays.
I
want to talk about the Fruit of Faith. The
Fruit of Faith Galatians 5:6 talks about Faith being a Fruit.
The
Gift is imparted the Fruit is produced by Love towards God.
Galatians
5:6
For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor
uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
This
talks about the Fruit because only the Fruit works by Love the Gift does not.
This is the Faith that is required for living.
This
is the type of Faith that gives us access to God’s throne.
Romans
5:2
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
The
Fruit of Faith is the result of three things:
(1)
abiding in Christ
(2)
watching the influence that comes at us
(3)
being planted in the house of the Lord
Hear
this: The Gift of Faith can move mountains, but only the Fruit of Faith can move
God.
It
is possible to have the Gift of Faith and miss Heaven.
1
Cor. 13:2
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and
understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so
that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
Meekness is that true slave like submission to God. It is that submissive Spirit that’s free from rebellion and pride.
What
is Meekness? It is total deliverance from self
It
is Love at its best and most refined state.
1
Peter 3:4 talks about meekness. Meekness is not weakness. Meekness is submission
to God fully.
No
more self but all of thee, none of self but all of thee.
1
Peter 3:4
But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
The
word meekness means: Controlled strength. Where
you are strong but know when to use it.
Psalm
37:11
But
the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance
of peace.
Psalm
25:9
The
meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
Psalm
149:4
For
the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with
salvation.
The
best description of Meekness is Christ the Lion who acted like a Lamb.
It is the control that God gives you naturally over the whole man Spirit, Soul and Body. Control over your entire being.
He that cannot control his Spirit cannot control a city proverbs says.
Self-control---How badly we need it today.
1 Cor. 9:25-27
And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. [26] I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: [27] But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
Temperance is when you bring your body into subjection to the Holy spirit. Full Control.
Fruit of the Spirit imparted from God so we can submit to God with no complaints.
That kind of Submission comes from knowing who we are in Jesus. Knowing your connection to the source.
2 Peter 1:4-8
Whereby are given unto us exceeding
great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine
nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. [5]
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue
knowledge; [6] And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to
patience godliness; [7] And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly
kindness charity. [8] For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you
that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord
Jesus Christ.
Here is the things you need as a believer:
(1) Faith
(2) Praise
(3) Knowledge
(4) Self-control
(5) Endurance
(6) Holiness
(7) Affection
(8) Love
If Those Eight things be in you and abound They will make you that you be Fruitful, not barren but Fruitful in the Knowledge of our wonderful Master.
2 Peter 1:9-10
But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. [10] Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
How many here wants to never fall?
These are the eight Laws of Heaven for safety.
